About
Ignacio Corrales is an Argentine percussionist and keyboardist based in New York, currently pursuing his Doctorate in Music at Stony Brook University under the tutelage of Eduardo Leandro. In 2015, a live performance of “Les Espaces Acoustiques” by Gerard Grisey sparked in him an interest in new musical languages. Since then, Ignacio fully committed to the performance of contemporary music and the premiere of new works. His current line of research focuses on the argentinian diaspora and its influence on composers’ aesthetics.
He earned his undergraduate degree with a summa cum laude distinction from the Universidad Nacional de las Artes in Buenos Aires in 2019 and completed his Master’s at the University of Massachusetts Amherst with Ayano Kataoka in 2023. He has premiered works by emerging composers and participated in consortiums and festivals like Resonar, The Space Between III, Transplanted Roots 2025.
